From Workshop attendee Rosie McConville :

I’ve been on Danny’s courses before and loved every one of them. Apart from his phenomenal knowledge and enthusiasm for his photography, I’ve learned a lot from him in terms of how to teach. I’ve taught my entire life in various secondary schools both  in Northern Ireland and abroad (Kuwait, Turkey, Oman) and I  now teach in a university in the United Arab Emirates. What always impresses me as a teacher is how Danny critiques students. Regardless of the camera gear a student has, or how good/bad the student’s photography is, Danny always treats students with a kindness that I would love to be able to emulate. He is always positive without being patronising and I always promise myself I will try to treat my students in the same way. Unfortunately I just don’t have the knack of doing this – so I’ll just have to keep on doing more of Danny’s courses until I can even begin to approach his ability! I won’t be home again until July 2017, but I fully intend to attend whatever courses Danny offers in future.  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn from an excellent teacher like Danny!

From workshop attendees David & Carolyn Carlisle:

It’s now almost two years since we first met Danny when we attended one of his excellent Macro classes. The rest is history! We have enjoyed his courses so much that we just keep coming back, and our shots just keep on improving due to his input. We have now attended numerous photography courses led by Danny at both Oxford Island and RSPB Portmore on subjects including: Birds in Flight; Woodland Birds; Lough Shore Birds; and Macro (flora and fauna in summer meadows and autumnal woodlands, depending on season).  Danny has the remarkable ability to teach, encourage and enthuse photographers of every level from beginner to professional, whether you have top of the range kit or iPhone, whether you’re a teenager or an OAP. His knowledge of both photography and natural history is phenomenal and he is able to educate and inform course attendees collectively and individually in both areas in order to improve their skills and shots. His courses are relaxed and friendly yet informative, constructive, and a lot of fun. Highly addictive! And no matter how many times we have attended his courses, we have found that we always learn something new whilst having a great time…whatever the weather! Thanks, Danny! Carolyn and David Carlisle.
