I found a great little spot on a local river, it's got dippers, kingfisher, heron and wonderful scenery. Today as I setup and waited on the dippers to arrive at a known feeding spot, I thought I'd try filming the river bed and underwater to see what fish were living in the clear water - minnows, sticklebacks and some gudgeon - a good sign of clean, oxygenated water :)
It's not often we get to see what goes on beneath the surface of our local rivers and canals, so this was an ideal opportunity!
Check out the footage from the gopro:
The minnows were really inquisitive and every time I stuck the camera in the water, they crowded it straight away:
Hopefully my next blog will be about the dippers on this stretch of river, there are at least 2 adults and young at the moment, and they show well along the shallow rocky parts as they feed, but they take some stalking!
