I'm very lucky to have many nesting birds around my garden. We have several house sparrow nests, and a robin nest all quite close by - and just in the past couple of days we've noticed a blue tit taking food not very far away and returning to the feeders for more.
Just this morning I noticed the robin was accompanied by all 3 of its fledgling chicks (although they are now almost bigger than the parents!) So I setup my usual birding rig (canon 7d, Sigma 50-500mm, tripod, and nifty 3 legged stool) - approx 15ft from the fence, put out some food mix on the log and waited for the next bout of feeding mayhem:
It's comical and amazing to watch these wee birds getting fed. They are sooo demanding, and you have to hand it to the parents, they work tirelessly to feed all their young. If you too are feeding your garden birds, please do keep up the food as they are more than likely bringing food back to the nest to feed young like these.
If any of you are photographing and feeding your birds in the garden, please comment in the boxes below with a link to your photos or videos, I'd love to see the progress other wee birds are making across the country at this exciting time of year :)
